Salary to hourly

Type in either side and the other follows, in pesos with a dollar estimate beside it.

about $828

↔

about $4.78

Every week of the year counts here, because that is what a salary means. If you are quoting a freelance rate you also have to cover the weeks nobody is paying you, which the rate calculator does. Dollar figures are estimates at today's reference rate.

USD estimate · rates as of 9 Oct 2026 (ECB)

How to use this

  1. Put the monthly salary in the first box, in pesos.
  2. Set the hours a week the job actually asks for. Forty is a full-time week; a part-time role is whatever was agreed.
  3. Read the hourly figure. Type into that box instead and the salary follows, so it works either way round.
  4. Use the dollar estimate beside it for a conversation with somebody who thinks in dollars, not for a contract.

How the number is worked out

Monthly salary times twelve, divided by the hours in a working year: the hours a week you put in, times fifty-two. Every week counts, because that is what being on a salary means. There is no allowance for holidays or sickness here, and there should not be: a salaried person is paid through both.

₱45,000 a month at 40 hours a week is ₱45,000 × 12 ÷ (40 × 52) = ₱259.62 an hour. Going back the other way returns ₱45,000, which is the same number: the two directions are one calculation read from either end.

Why an employee's hourly figure is not a freelance rate

This page answers “what is this salary per hour”. That is a different question from “what should I charge”, and the answers are different numbers.

A salaried person is paid for fifty-two weeks. A freelancer is paid only for the hours they bill, so the same annual income has to come out of fewer hours: the weeks off, the weeks ill and the weeks between clients all have to be earned during the weeks that are worked. Quoting this page’s figure for freelance work is one of the commonest ways to under-price it, which is why the rate calculator is a separate tool with a separate formula rather than a checkbox on this one.

What this cannot tell you

It converts a number. It does not know what a role is worth, what a market pays, or what anybody has agreed. Nothing typed here is stored or sent anywhere.

It also leaves out everything that is not salary: 13th month pay, government contributions, benefits and bonuses are all outside the figure on both sides.

Questions

How is the hourly figure worked out?
Monthly salary times twelve, divided by the hours you work in a year: 52 weeks at the hours a week you put in. Every week counts, because that is what being on a salary means.
Why is the freelance rate calculator's answer higher?
Because a freelancer is not paid for holidays, illness or the gaps between clients, so the same income has to come out of fewer billable hours. Using this page's figure to quote freelance work is one of the commonest ways to under-price it.
Where does the dollar figure come from?
The European Central Bank's daily reference rate, the same one every converted number on this site uses. It is an estimate, not a quote: what you actually receive depends on your bank or transfer service.
Does this include 13th month pay?
No. In the Philippines 13th month pay is a separate legal entitlement of employees, worked out from basic salary earned in the year, and it has its own calculator here.
